ASHLAND, Massachusetts - On April 12, 2016, at 6:00 p.m., the E.P.A. (EPA) will be hosting a walking tour of the Nyanza Chemical Waste Dump Superfund site, which is open to members of the community who would like to participate.
The tour will focus on the Nyanza Landfill Cap which was constructed in 1991 over contaminated materials to prevent any direct contact. The tour will encircle the cap, walking primarily on a gravel access road.
The tour is expected to last one hour, followed by an E.P.A. presentation as part of the regularly-scheduled Ashland Board of Health meeting. The Board of Health meeting will be located in Ashland Town Hall.
Those wishing to attend the location tour should project to arrive at the Nyanza gate, located at the end of Megunko Road, between 5:45 pm and 6:00 p.m. Due to limited parking, car-pooling is strongly encouraged.
