Senator Inhofe Praises the Failure of Amendment #48 (Sen. Gillibrand's Amendment) to S.1 on KXL

WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Senator Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), Chairman of the Environment and Public Works Committee, released a statement today on the Senate's filibuster proof rejection of Senator Gillibrand's Amendment (Amendment #48) to S.1 which would expand the federal regulation of hydraulic fracturing:

"The failure to pass Senator Gillibrand's (D-NY) Amendment to S.1 is a clear message from the U.S. Senate of broad bipartisan support to keep regulation of hydraulic fracturing in the capable hands of the states and out of the grasp of the Obama Administration's E.P.A. and their War on Fossil Fuels. I am proud to be a part of the 63 U.S. Senators to reject this needless expansion of bureaucratic authority, and to affirm the states proven ability to safely and effectively regulate hydraulic fracturing. Hydraulic fracturing is responsible for leading the American manufacturing resurgence, creating thousands of well-paying jobs, lowering prices of energy for our families, and driving us towards energy independence. The failure of Amendment #48 is a collective step in the right direction for the U.S. Senate and hardworking Americans."

The Amendment would repeal the 2005 Energy Policy Act's provision keeping hydraulic fracturing regulated by the states allowing development to safely occur at the state level. This Amendment would also change the Energy Policy Act to impose new federal requirements on natural gas storage at the time when consumers need it the most for home heating.

Clean the lint filter in your family's clothes dryer every time the dryer is used. This increases air circulation which helps clothes dry more quickly, saving energy.
